Dr. William H. King, III
The Pastor, The Father, The Friend

On August 4, 1965, in the Third Ward section of Houston, Texas William H. King  III was born the He is the tenth child of thirteen siblings. to the proud parents of Mr. and Mrs. William H. King Jr. He is the tenth child of thirteen siblings. He is the husband of First Lady, Shemika King and the father of Destini, Bailee, and William H. King, IV. Destini is married to Brandon Oliver, and they have four children Madison, Micah, Alexander King, and Malachi. Madison was born the year his mother passed, and a day before her birthday, therefore Dr.  King nicknamed her Mae in memory of his mother. 

 

William H. King, III, received Christ as a child. He was baptized in the Catholic Church,  went through CCD, 1st Communion, and served faithfully as Father Mario, and Bill Prichard favorite  Alter Boy. He also attended East Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. S. L. Farris. At  the age of 15 he united with the East Macedonia Baptist Church and was baptized by Rev. E. L. Carroll.  He has maintained his membership there to this day. He’s served in many supporting roles and was called  to preach the gospel at the age of 18, in 1984 under the leadership of Dr. Frank Celestine Sr.  

In 1983, he graduated from James Madison Senior High School. He has attended San Diego Community  College, Houston Community College, College of Biblical Studies (Houston), Southwest Theological  Seminary, Institute for Teaching God’s Word Theological Seminary, and the Minnesota Graduate School  of Theology where he received his Doctorate in Ministry. 

Dr. King served his country in the United State Marine Corp from 1983-1992. With strong will and  aspirations, he rapidly excelled in rank. He completed his tour duty after serving in Operation Desert  Storm/Desert Shield as a Gunnery Sergeant. Throughout his military years, Dr. King received several  meritorious promotions, two certificates of merit and a Commanding General Award. Upon returning to  Houston after his military tour, Dr. King was employed by the United States Postal Service from 1986- 1997. While working at the United States Postal Service he demonstrated enormous leadership ability as a  letter carrier and was promoted to a 204B carrier supervisor. 

Dr. William H. King, III, is currently the pastor of Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, the  Chief Chaplain for the Dickinson Police Department, President of the American Baptist Convention of  Texas, and Moderator of the Southeast District Association. During his leadership at Greater New Hope  Missionary Baptist Church he founded the Greater New Hope Christian Academy, Greater New Hope  Family Life Center, Equipping the Saints School of Ministry, Health and Healing Ministry, Housing  Ministry and he is leading the effort to designate Magnolia Cemetery next to the church where he pastors  as an Historical Landmark it is the only African American Cemetery in Dickinson with burials that  predate the 1850’s. Dr. King has completed 7 terms as the City of Dickinson Councilmember in addition,  he was elected by the council twice as the City’s Mayor Pro-Tem; he has also served as the representative  from the council on the Houston - Galveston Area Council Board for 8 years, in which he was elected by  the board to serve as their Vice-Chair, Chair Elect and Chairman of the Board before ending his term. He  was a Candidate for the Galveston County Judge position. He is also President of the Dickinson  Ministerial Alliance. As the DMA President, he has worked diligently to provide leadership in the  community and to the pastors in North Galveston County.

Under his leadership the pastors of Dickinson  held several church leaderships conferences, DMA Revivals, Community Church and Evangelism  Picnics, Monthly Food Distributions and Sunrise Service. He’s Coordinated Community VBS so that each  week of the summer, youth would have a safe place to attend evening activities and spiritual growth. He  has received many Community Achievement Awards, and the highest recognition from the International Conference of Police Chaplains and Local Organization including the Galveston Daily News and the  Dickinson Bay Area NAACP Award. During the Pandemic, he continued to lead his church and  community with vaccination, food distribution, employment education, and best practices during Covid 19.

His efforts, energy, and enthusiasm are to find the common thread that will unify pastors, politicians,  and people from all classes of life to enhance the community’s quality of LIFE! He’s a saved, sanctified,  and Holy Ghost filled Ambassador for Jesus!
